Miss
Nadia J. Muhammad
A native of Atlanta, Miss Nadia J. Muhammad is the daughter of Timothy and Beverly Muhammad. Nadia graduated with honors from Blackstone Academy High School. While in high school, she was Miss Senior and received an award for performing over 275 hours of community service. She is currently a senior majoring in Mass Communications at Benedict College in Columbia.
At Benedict, she is a member of the Harold Odom Dance Theater and her interests include dancing, acting and modeling. Nadia also has an interest in volunteer service with children and with the elderly. Nadia is performing her service learning this semester in the Athletics Department and her practicum intern is with the Benedict’s Public Relations Office.
She has various pageant and modeling experience. She is the winner of the 2005 Capital City Classic Pageant here in Columbia and has been named Miss Benedict College for the 2006-07 academic year.
Nadia’s grandmother is Dr. Matilda Evans, who was the first African-American woman licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina. Nadia life’s mission is to continue her grandmother’s legacy by helping young women to persevere in their academic goals and to fully realize their potential and importance in this society. She believes her communication skills and ability to work with people are excellent. The one word that best describes Nadia is warm-hearted.
