"The Power of One" 

To My Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma:

Happy New Year! As the world rings in 2008 and we look forward to the very best a new year can and will bring, take time to pause and thank God for his many blessings and for this day. 

Indeed, yesterday is gone; tomorrow is not here yet; so all we really have is today. Proverbs 27:1 reminds us, “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” Leroy Brownlow said, “Live now. Today. Common practice is to live tomorrow, and live yesterday, but to never live today. But reality tells us that today is the only day we have to live.” 

Today, we celebrate brotherhood, we celebrate life, we celebrate love. When we live with love, our every day is beautiful, and our new year is surely bright. Phi Beta Sigma through its mission and its programs lets love and compassion shine through, by our example, today and always.

It is my pleasure to thank you, to toast you, and extend to each of you and your family sincerest wishes for a happy, safe and prosperous 2008. God bless you and Phi Beta Sigma.
