The Crescent Magazine
The Crescent Magazine is the official publication and voice of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Brother Eugene T. Alexander edited the first publication in 1921. The Crescent has always been a source of Sigma lore and history.
In years past, The Crescent has brought attention to Sigma’s Role in addressing Civil Rights issues, important works of the Fraternity, Information on Conclaves (Our International Meetings) as well as highlighted Brothers of outstanding Merit and Prowess.
Recently, The Crescent has featured an interview with US Congressman Brother John Lewis which discussed his works within Congress as well as his works during the Civil Rights Movement (The Crescent Magazine, Spring / Summer 2007). Also highlighted in this edition were our Brothers on the Frontlines of the US Secret Service as well as an announcement of congratulations to our 24th International President, the Honorable Brother Demetrius C. Newton being selected as the First African-American Speaker Pro Tempore of the Alabama State House of Representatives.
Our most recent publication was a Special Conclave Edition of The Crescent that was released Spring 2009, recapping our 2007 Conclave in Charlotte, North Carolina as well as provided a look forward to our 2009 Conclave that was held in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Edition gave special significance to the theme of our 95th Anniversary Conclave, “Celebrating the Dream”.
