Actor Terrence Howard Inducted into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity

“Academy Award nominated actor, Terrence Howard was inducted as an Honorary Member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.  Howard expressed his sincere gratitude to the Brotherhood of Phi Beta Sigma for bestowing such an honor to him.

The Honorable Brother Jimmy Hammock, International President officiated the ceremony, which was held at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Also attending the ceremony were Bro. Jonathan Mason, International First Vice President, Bro. Darryl Williams, Eastern Regional Director, Bro. Marco W. McMillian, International Executive Director, Honorable Bro. William E. Stanley, 28^th International President and Honorable Bro. Peter Adams, 30^th International President.

Several members and chapters from the Eastern region was on hand to participate in the ceremony and post reception. Also in attendance at the reception were several members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

Terrence Dashon Howard had his first major role in the 1995 film Mr. Holland’s Opus, subsequently led to a number of roles in films and television. Among his roles in movies includes The Best Man, Lackawanna Blues, Crash, Four Brothers, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, Idlewild, The Brave One, and Pride, of which he also produced.  He received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in his role as “Djay” in the film Hustle & Flow.

Howard first entered the entertainment world when he portrayed Jackie Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream, an ABC miniseries. He also co-starred as “Greg Sparks” in the late-1990s television series Sparks.

In 2008, he made his Broadway debut, playing in an all-African American production of Tennessee William’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
